Brutal Clarity: krishnan menon on marketing

Krishnan Menon & Brutal Clarity

Krishnan Menon is one of the world's leading experts on consumer marketing. He serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Phenomenon, an idea-generation company.

He's worked on marketing the iMac and iPod. He's helped with Williams-Sonoma's wedding registry and Pottery Barn's online store. He worked with the Lord of Rings Trilogy, and Santana's comeback album, Supernatural. He's led teams for Xerox's sponsorship of the Olympic Games, and Home Depot's foray into eCommerce. He's worked on loyalty initiatives for Charles Schwab, and helped with the launch and marketing of Jet Blue.

He helped Best Software redefine its umbrella brand and value proposition, and created a nationwide, multi-studio customer loyalty strategy for Disney's Home Video division. He was a consulting futurist, focusing on marketing innovation, for Steven Spielberg's Minority Report. He is one of the industry's leading consultants on ethical and relevant product placement in Hollywood films.

His new hobby is in television, and recently sold a half-hour satire about the marketing industry to Showtime, and is developing two other shows: a reality show for Chinese television with Ken Mok, the creator of America's Next Top Model, and a mini series drama about the dotcom industry with Jonathan Prince, the creator of American Dreams. He was recently signed on by ICM as a client in their TV Literary division.

Brutal Clarity is an ephemera of thoughts, rants, and ramblings that, in order to remain thematic, he struggles to connect somehow to marketing. Krishnan is currently working on a long-overdue book, and if the damn publisher would stop having re-orgs, he'd actually get it done. He does some speaking, thinking, and dreaming during the day, mostly around customer experiences types-of-things.

This blog is maintained sporadically, though Krishnan has promised himself to do it a bit more often than not. Here's a list of the latest entries on Brutal Clarity:
